    About this tool

Each format has a job. JPEG is universal and good for photos, but it cannot store transparency. PNG keeps every pixel exactly and supports transparency, which suits logos, screenshots and diagrams, but PNG photos are large. WebP does both: small files and transparency. Every current browser supports it, though some older desktop programs do not.

Common conversions: WebP to JPEG or PNG when software will not open a downloaded WebP; PNG to JPEG to make photos smaller for email; JPEG or PNG to WebP to speed up a website.

    Good to know

    • Input formats depend on your browser. AVIF needs a recent browser, and HEIC is not supported by most browsers.
    • Animated GIF and WebP files are converted to a single still frame.
    • Converting to PNG creates lossless but often larger files.

    Frequently asked questions

How do I convert WebP to JPG?

Add the WebP files, choose JPEG as the output format, and download. Transparent areas are filled with the background colour you pick (white by default).

    Will converting reduce quality?

Converting to PNG is lossless. Converting to JPEG or WebP uses the quality slider; 85 or above is visually identical for most images.

Can I convert HEIC iPhone photos?

Not in most browsers, because they cannot decode HEIC. On iPhone, go to Settings › Camera › Formats and choose "Most Compatible", or share photos as JPEG.
