About this tool

Before posting screenshots of chats, documents, receipts or photos with people in them, hide anything personal: faces, licence plates, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses and account numbers.

Use "Black box" for text you must hide completely. Light blur and large pixels can sometimes be partially reversed for short text such as numbers. This tool uses a strong down-sample-and-blur method and writes a new image (the original pixels in the hidden area are not kept), but solid boxes are the safest choice for sensitive text.

Good to know

  • Areas are rectangles.
  • Keyboard users can add a centred area or cover the whole image; free positioning needs a pointer.
  • Camera metadata is removed from the saved image.

Is the original image changed?
